SAM Electronics based in Hamburg, Germany, is a leading manufacturer of
electronic devices and facilities in shipbuilding. The customers include
shipyards and shipping companies worldwide. Its focus is on development
and production of electronically supported propulsion technology, integrated
nautical steering and navigational technology, communications technology,
as well as safety and security systems. In 2005 the company achieved turnover
on the level of roughly €250m and had been taken over by EquiVest and the
management two years prior. SAM was sold by EquiVest at the beginning of
2006 to the US-based company, L3 Communications Inc.
